On New Year eve we completed one more shower and bathroom renovation in London property, in St. Johns Wood, N10 area. The bathroom was quite recently renovated, so we just did a partial update (mainly replacement of sanitary equipment and some tiling) - here you may see how the work progressed.
Bathroom renovation
The bathroom was renovated few years ago. But the new owners wanted to update it: the bath tub, toilet bath mixer, wash basin mixer were replaced. The wash basin, cabinet, shower screen and all the tiling were re-used. The result - bathroom looks as new:
At first glance this job may look easy - no major changes, just replacement of fittings. However, to replace the bath tub is not simple when wall tiles are sitting on the edge of the bath. As there were no spare tiles left we had to be careful not to break the existing tiles and the stone slab in the end of bath. Believe me, it took effort and time! It's always easier to rip out everything that's old and start from bare walls - while doing a partial update the end result may not be completely satisfying. In this case the result was good - the bathroom looks refreshed, as new.
Shower room renovation
Shower room previously wasn't in too bad condition either - the new owners just wanted to update it: our bathroom fitters in London replaced the shower mixer, wash basin, toilet, shower door and tray. As the shower mixer housing was concealed type, we had to open the wall and adjust water supply pipes for the new shower mixer. There were no extra tiles left from the last refurbishment, so the whole wall was re-tiled. We also built a wet room type shower tray, waterproofed it and the back wall.
While doing this London bathroom renovation and shower room update we were surprised to find out that there were no stop valves to turn off cold and hot water. We thought, at least hot water we would be able to turn off - it appeared that hot water supply was coming from the mains, not from the boiler. Only kitchen had hot water supply from the boiler. The hot and cold water pipes had to be frozen and isolating valves installed for each of the sanitary units. It delayed the works but in the end we finished just on time for New Year celabration.
We also did some carpentry and painting decorating work in this property
